Broadcasting and Digital Journalism Instructors - Two Positions

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the activities below. The successful candidates will teach Broadcasting and related courses, including Television Production, Advanced Television Production, News Writing for Electronic Media, Writing for the Media, Digital Communication, Practicum in Television News, and Broadcast Performance. The successful candidates will assist with the continuing development of curriculum in the Broadcasting concentration and lead in the overall enhancement of the evolving program.

The successful candidates will have a 4/4 course load (or equivalent duties) for fall and spring semesters. Summer teaching is often available, but is not guaranteed.

Service to the department, university and profession is expected. Service includes advising majors and student organizations, developing curriculum, and serving on committees. Service activities within the community and professional disciplines also are recognized as aspects of faculty achievement.

These are two full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty positions requiring the successful candidates to teach and perform service. See below for more specifics. (More information also can be found at http://bit.ly/2qMSb5I.)

A Master's degree is required. However, consideration will be given to someone with a Bachelor’s degree and substantial professional experience in the broadcast industry in the areas listed below.
1) Reporting and producing
2) Broadcast production
3) Web-based journalism
4) Creative Cloud or equivalent knowledge
5) Non-linear video editing

The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the field and a willingness to participate collegially in a broad department. Colleagues must be able to communicate that knowledge in the classroom environment to students as well as to other important groups through scholarship and service.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in the area of Broadcasting and Digital Journalism and prior collegiate teaching experience.
