Director of Development, Courant and College of Global Public Health

This position requires a highly entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and the ability to develop and execute strategies to engage potential prospects with no prior connection to New York University based upon their interests and/or business priorities. Out-of-the box thinking, creativity and business development experience are highly desirable attributes for this position. Develop relationships with the College of Global Public Health (CGPH) Deans, the Director of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (CIMS), and faculty to determine fundraising priorities, identify prospects, and develop engagement strategies for prospects. Create a robust stewardship program and alumni giving program to build pool of loyal repeat donors. Integrate fundraising for the CGPH and CIMS into the UDAR organizational structure and business model collaborating with colleagues in Prospect Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Stewardship, UDAR ITS, Gift Administration and other support units as well as other fundraisers in other schools and programs. Draft annual strategic fundraising plans and identify key steps to be taken to achieve fundraising initiatives. Build and manage a pool of approximately 200+ institutional and individual prospects yielding an annual goal of $4.5M. Train and manage an Annual Giving Officer, CGPH. Reports to the Associate VP, Global Public Health, Science and Technology.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. 7-10 years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience in institutional grant writing and fundraising. Must include experience writing proposals and closing gifts of six figures and higher. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others. Working knowledge of various software applications. Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite. Keen understanding of the multi-interdisciplinary nature of sciences and technology and the ability to develop “big idea” project proposals across domains.

Preferred:
Master's degree. Educational background in Public Health, Science and/or Technology strongly encouraged. Ability to communicate and translate scientific language to a non-scientific audience
