Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research for Commonwealth Campuses

Penn State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research for the Commonwealth Campuses. This senior-level academic leader will report to the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor. The successful candidate will serve as a key resource to the academic leadership of the 14-campus University College and the Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies on matters related to faculty affairs, sponsored research, and entrepreneurial and economic development.

Candidates for this position should possess credentials appropriate for a tenured appointment at the preferred rank of professor and a minimum of five years of academic administrative experience in a higher education environment. Other essential skills include a broad knowledge of major issues within higher education, an exceptional level of intellect, collegiality, integrity, creativity and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully with others. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential. This is a 48-week academic administrator appointment.

Penn State is a multi-campus public research university. The Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses is comprised of 19 undergraduate campuses and one graduate campus, serving some 31,000 students, 1,600 faculty and 2,100 staff. The University College is comprised of 14 of the Commonwealth campuses located throughout Pennsylvania, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees in a wide variety of disciplines, in addition to the first two years of study for the University's 160 majors. The Great Valley Graduate School of Professional Studies offers professional master's degrees in business, engineering and technology.
