Department Head, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Allied Health

The University of Cincinnati (UC), in partnership with the national search firm of Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the next Department Head for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). The CSD department, within the College of Allied Health, has a large and diverse graduate program including distance learning and campus MA-SLP programs, an AuD program, and a PhD program. In addition, they have a well-developed, high enrollment undergraduate program. The CSD department has an on-site speech and hearing clinic that provides student training and clinical services. The department is CAA-accredited and is ranked 39th by US News and World Report for Speech Language Pathology, and 26th for Audiology. UC seeks candidates who have a strong record of research and external financial support, teaching, experience with operating a clinical/training facility, and proven visionary leadership. Administrative and leadership experience should include sound fiscal management, strong interest and proficiency in faculty development and mentoring, demonstrated experience in curriculum development and implementation, and proficiency with educational technology. Candidates should possess the ability to effectively express and implement the shared vision of the Department, College, and University. They should demonstrate the ability to establish collaborative working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, as well as with individuals from our local and regional communities.

The successful candidate will have/be:

• A doctoral degree (PhD preferred)
• Eligible for appointment as a tenured, full professor
• Expertise in any clinical or basic science area of communication disorders
• Possession of CCC-A or CCC-SLP certification and Ohio licensure (or eligibility for the same)
• Administrative experience (including program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting)
• A strong record of scholarship and distinguished history of teaching and service
• Certificate of clinical competence
• Knowledge in technological support and delivery of programs and services
• Demonstrated success in collaborating with colleagues in a variety of academic disciplines
