Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Alumni Career Engagement will design, develop, and provide an array of career services to University of San Diego alumni, including alumni from all undergraduate programs, and graduate programs in the College of Arts & Sciences and Schools of Leadership and Education Sciences, Nursing, Peace & Justice, and Engineering and Computing. Provides career coaching to alumni in person, via phone or videoconferencing, and via email. In coordination with the Office for Alumni Relations, delivers in-person and virtual career-related programs, workshops, and webinars. Develops and maintains online resources for alumni, including an online networking platform that will engage current students and alumni. Works closely with the Director of Career Development Center, the Assistant Director of Employer Relations, and the Senior Director of Alumni Affairs to create strategic and scalable support and engagement opportunities for USD alumni. This position works under the general supervision of the Director and Associate Director of Career Development Center with collaboration with the Office of Alumni Affairs and exercises supervision over clerical and student staff for projects and programs.

Responsibilities:
Career Coaching
∙ Specializes in guiding clients in the intricacies of self-assessment, research, planning, decision making, and implementation related to career and life planning issues. Primary focus is on alumni, and also provides support with daily drop-in advising and occasional appointments with current undergraduate or graduate students.


Program Development and Management
∙ Develops, manages, and coordinates implementation of online and in-person mentorship programs. Works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations to coordinate planning and service delivery.

Liaison Responsibilities
∙ Working in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Employer Relations and the Director, builds relationships with students, alumni, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, and community contacts to provide quality career services and to promote the professional activities of the Career Development Center. Serves as liaison to departments, student organizations and other campus populations, including the Office for Alumni Relations and the Alumni Association. Exercises discretion in communication with all off-campus entities with regard to confidential client information

Professional Development
∙ Sets and meets professional objectives that enhance the Career Development Center and maintain the professional reputation of the department and the university. Serves as liaison to professional associations to stay abreast of current developments in career counseling, alumni career services, and/or employment trends. Encourages updated policies and procedures to maintain the Career Development Center's professionalism and to best serve constituents.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
∙ Master's degree required, preferably in counseling, career counseling, human resources, rehabilitation counseling, vocational rehabilitation counseling, or related area
∙ Three years of experience in career-related program planning and delivery required
∙ Ability to provide responsive and confidential career counseling/coaching to diverse clients, including alumni of all ages and career backgrounds
∙ Ability to plan and facilitate group presentations and workshops in person and virtually
∙ Ability to work with community partners on and off campus
∙ Presentation, writing, and MS-Office skills
∙ Familiarity with technology that facilitates webinars and online platforms
∙ Ability to work collaboratively on team projects with diverse individuals
∙ Flexibility and willingness to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed
∙ Leadership experience, particularly in initiating and developing new programs and developing new partnerships

Preferred Qualifications:
∙ Experience working with clients who have a variety of backgrounds and career goals
∙ Five years of experience in adult career advising, program planning and delivery
∙ Experience with pre-graduate school advising in a variety of disciplines
∙ Experience in human resources or talent acquisition or outplacement
∙ Ability to develop and implement new initiatives while working with multiple and complex stakeholder relationships, including Alumni Relations staff, Career Center staff, Alumni Career Services Committee, other concerned alumni, and Development staff.
∙ Knowledge of online resources and career development software
∙ Expertise in career assessment tools, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory

∙ Qualified to administer and interpret career assessments
∙ Knowledge of counseling theories and practice
∙ Knowledge of career development theories and practice
∙ Familiarity with current research on trends in the workplace for transitioning job seekers

∙ Knowledge of career resources, career trends, and Internet resources
∙ Knowledge of employment trends and current job market information

∙ Ability to work positively and effectively within teams and with diverse populations
