Albertus Magnus College founded in 1925 is a Catholic College in the Dominican tradition. Through the sponsorship of the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, the College derives its Catholic and Dominican identity and remains an independent, fully accredited liberal arts, coeducational College offering undergraduate and graduate programs. Albertus Magnus College through careful stewardship of its resources, is debt-free with an endowment and reserve funds.
The College invites applications for the position of Vice President for Finance, Administration and Treasurer. The Vice President will report directly to the recently named 14th President of the College, Dr. Marc M. Camille. He or she will serve as a financial advisor to the President and provide financial reports and analysis regularly to the Finance Committee and to the full Board of Trustees. He or she will be a member of President Camille’s Administrative Council, and will work closely with all members of the Council to advance the overall strategic objectives of the College.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Commitment to the College’s Mission, Catholic identity, Dominican tradition and values;
- Oversight and stewardship of the College’s finances and investments;
- Development and management of the College’s annual operating and capital budgets;
- Oversees the endowment and quasi-endowment;
- Strategic financial planning and analysis of resource use;
- Treasury and cash management including drawdown of federal grant programs;
- General accounting office functions including purchasing, accounts payable, student accounts receivables, internal controls and comptroller functions;
- Evaluates and negotiates the College’s third party contracts, insurance coverage and enterprise risk management services;
- Ensures compliance with professional accounting standards, rules, regulations and laws by directing, supervising and facilitating the preparation and maintenance of required and appropriate financial records, monthly and annual financial reports and all other financial reporting as may be required by federal, state, local agencies or established accounting standards;
- Oversees Human Resources management including payroll, compensation, employee medical and retirement benefits;
- Ensures a safe and secure campus environment for all internal and external constituencies of the College;
- Management of facilities to include general maintenance and custodial; oversees construction, renovation projects and deferred maintenance;
- Support and implementation of environmental sustainability projects and initiatives;
- Oversight of auxiliary services including dining services, book store and campus security; non-tuition revenue including facility rentals and summer camps;
- Serves as a liaison to the College’s legal counsel.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is required. CPA credentials are preferred. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is preferred. In lieu of an advanced degree, applicants with long-standing experience in a comparable position at institutions of similar size and scope will be considered.
The College seeks a collaborative and persuasive financial leader with a distinguished record of outstanding professional service and accomplishment. The successful candidate will have high-level administrative leadership capacity, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and implement change in a consensus-driven and proactive manner. Applicants should have seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience as a senior executive in an institution of higher education, foundation, or business organization of relevant size and complexity with financial, business, capital planning and project management responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in higher education and are well-versed in trends in higher education finance.

This individual will have the ability to bring best practices to the College and provide leadership for the ongoing efforts to develop operating strategies that enhance revenues and efficiency and lead to more cost-effective administrative practices;
- Effective Manager: The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. This individual will implement operations designed to ensure fairness, accountability, compliance and customer service; demonstrate the ability to function in a complex, high-demand environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously and be accustomed to setting and achieving goals. This individual will also serve as an advocate for an environment that encourages teamwork, student success, inclusive decision-making and a sense of community across the College;
- Persuasive Communicator: The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to convey the strategic goals and objectives of finance and administrative programs;
- Technologically Proficient: The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of financial and information technologies;
- Personal Characteristics: The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor and develop others. This individual will demonstrate personal and professional integrity that will garner the respect and confidence of the College’s Board of Trustees, the senior leadership, and other College constituencies.

The Albertus campus provides a distinctive environment for students, faculty and staff. The College’s 50-acre, park-like campus, within walking distance to downtown New Haven, is located in one of the city’s most distinguished residential neighborhoods, Prospect Hill, which features both early 20th-century mansions and modern architectural gems. On campus, mansions serve as residence halls and administrative offices. In addition, Albertus Magnus has a thriving presence in Hartford, via its East Hartford Learning Center, which will move this fall to a new, cutting-edge space.
Students are supported by a caring faculty who understand the challenges students face as they juggle rigorous coursework, demanding jobs and family responsibilities. The College’s diverse student body is currently drawn from eight states and two countries. Albertus employs 48 full-time and 79 part-time faculty members with a primary focus on teaching. Ninety percent of full-time faculty hold a Ph.D. or the terminal degree in their field. Albertus enjoys a 14:1 student to faculty ratio, along with the support of 130 administrators and staff, providing a highly individualized educational experience for every student.

ATHLETICS AND STUDENT LIFE:
Athletics and student clubs are an integral part of campus life. Albertus is a member of NCAA Division III, and the Falcons compete in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Student athletes participate in 13 varsity sports and 2 club sports and benefit from excellent facilities, including The Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center, which features a 25-yard pool, Jacuzzi, racquetball courts, a dance/aerobics space, a fully-equipped workout room, a training room, and The Nest, the home court for Falcon’s men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams. The men’s basketball team has earned bids to the NCAA Division III March Madness basketball tournament seven times during the past ten years.
Students have opportunities to participate in existing clubs on campus, or start their own, based on their personal interests. For example, Albertus hosts an active Student Government Association, Student Alumni Association, Breakwater literary magazine, Dominican Team and Social Justice League. Students volunteer for food banks, engage with Unified Teams, serve with Dominican Volunteers USA, commit to the Alternative Spring Break Experience and have served with Habitat for Humanity, Teach for America and the Peace Corps.

Albertus Magnus College is in New Haven, Connecticut, a coastal city located approximately halfway between New York City and Boston.
