The School of Business at Dean College seeks a versatile practitioner with a strong business, marketing, and academic background in the field of sport management for the position of Assistant Professor of Sport Management and Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate would have pivotal experience in the business of sport management/marketing as well as teaching experience in a collegiate environment.
The successful candidate will be able to teach across the discipline of sport management (Example courses may include: introductory courses in sport management, organization and administration of sport, sport finance, sports ethics, and sport law and advanced courses in marketing, human resource management, organizational behavior, and operations management).
The successful candidate will coordinate the program, which includes the development of the sport management concentration, teach four courses or more per semester, and introduce students to professional experiences, including internships. Mentoring students to assure their success is a key role.
The successful candidate will also be able to articulate innovative ways to leverage the College's Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management (CBESM) and other major sports franchises and businesses. A critical skillset expected from the candidate would be on the creation and implementation of partnerships with the College's Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management (CBESM) that offer sound internships and experiential education for students.
Qualifications: A Master's in Sport Management from an accredited institution, plus professional work experience required; a terminal degree preferred. A minimum of 5 year's business and college teaching experience is required; experience teaching students with diverse learning styles is necessary. Experience with course management systems (i.e., Moodle) and instructional technology is essential.
