Columbia University's Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) MA program and the Department of Political Science invite applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in July 1, 2017. The Lecturer will teach graduate-level applied statistics courses, including at least one for the Department of Political Science on multivariate political science analysis. Responsibilities will also include thesis advising and leading lab sessions. This is a full-time position with the possibility of multi-year renewal contingent upon successful review. Ph.D. in a social science discipline or related field at time of appointment is required, preferably with a specialization in applied statistics, data science methods and coding in multiple statistical software languages, such as R, Python and/or Java. Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate or graduate level required.  

Minimum Degree Required: Ph.D.

Minimum Qualifications: All applicants MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.

All candidates must have extensive and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Substantial teaching experience with documented evidence of pedagogical excellence and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field are also required. The successful candidate will have a record of scholarly accomplishment, along with excellent judgment and strong interpersonal skills.  

Preferred Qualifications: Specialization in applied statistics, data science methods and coding in multiple statistical software languages, such as R, Python and/or Java.
