The University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO)  Service Learning Academy supports faculty, staff, and students working in collaboration with nonprofit community organizations, governmental agencies, and P-12 faculty.  UNO’s Service Learning Academy is a key element of the university’s commitment to community engagement and its mission as Nebraska’s metropolitan university.  The UNO Service Learning Academy is one of the signature programs housed in the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, an innovative and nationally unique space that serves to strengthen UNO’s existing outreach efforts and create opportunities for future partnerships.    

The Paul Sather Director of the UNO Service Learning Academy is part of the campus leadership team for community and civic engagement.  She/He has direct oversight of the UNO Service Learning Academy’s programs, initiatives, and staff.   He/She also works collaboratively with diverse constituents in the university, the metropolitan area, and regional/national organizations focused on service learning, community and civic engagement. 

Required qualifications:

  • Master's
  • Minimum of 5 plus years combined experience with academic service learning and/or community based-learning, and/or nonprofit programming and/or development, and/or community relations, and/or faculty support and development;
  • Demonstrated collaboration/coalition building skills working effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Doctorate or advanced professional degree
  • Experience working collaboratively with higher education, community organizations, and P- 12 schools; and
  • Record of scholarship related to service learning, community engagement, and/or civic engagement.
