Position 1:

Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller supervises and provides leadership to staff members in the Controller’s Office. He/she also supports operational and reporting matters related to: finance, banking, capital accounting, fixed assets, external financial reporting and internal financial reporting.  The Assistant Controller will also assist in training and identifying ongoing professional development for staff. Additionally, he/she will help educate colleagues around campus on pertinent issues related to budgeting and reporting. The Assistant Controller serves as a senior member of the Division of Finance and Administration and will interface and collaborate with the Vice President, Controller and other key members of the College Community and external organizations.

The qualified candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (a Master’s degree is preferred). A certification as a CPA is preferred. You will also need to have over 5 years of experience in public/private accounting and it is preferred that three (3) of those 5 years of experience to have been in a higher education and/or at a not for profit organization. Experience with the Banner system is a plus.

Position 2:

Director of Learning Technology

Hiram College, a private, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Northeast Ohio, seeks a Director of Learning Technology. The Director will work closely with the College leadership team to create, communicate, and model the strategic alignment of teaching and learning technologies with the college mission and other campus-wide initiatives; promote, coordinate, and/or deliver, and assess the delivery of myriad educational and training opportunities to faculty and staff; provide pedagogical support & guidance for the use of technology in classrooms and administrative areas; design the College technology renewal and procurement budget; and draft policies and best practices associated with the job’s purpose and key responsibilities. In particular, the Director will coordinate the planning, launching, and implementation of a new Apple 1:1 mobile technology initiative involving faculty, staff, and students, and collaborate with IT to maintain, support, and administer other technology systems and initiatives on campus, including the learning management system, lecture capture systems, video streaming server, and more.

The Director must possess: facility with iPad and other Apple technology; project management skills; comfort with PC and Mac environments; knowledge of multimedia formats and post-production editing, the principles of Universal Design for Learning, and best practices in course design; the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, senior administrators, and IT staff; and exemplary written and oral communication skills. The ability to work independently and as a team player as well as to demonstrate sound judgment in a quick-paced environment are essential.

Required experience includes: successfully managing a complex and organization-wide project across various stakeholder groups; designing and delivering professional development programs at all levels of an organization; teaching or instructional design work at the collegiate level; learning management system use; and designing for accessibility. A Bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree is preferred.

Position 3:

Instructional Designer

Hiram College, a private, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Northeast Ohio, seeks an Instructional Designer. The Instructional Designer will work with faculty and staff to design, re-design, and support curricular and co-curricular courses, workshops, and programs that utilize mobile and other technologies. This work includes collaborating with colleagues across campus to plan and present the types of training programs that will help faculty and staff conceptualize engaging course/program content in the first instance and then be able to deliver it. The Instructional Designer will be expected to model innovative use of Hiram’s mobile technology and learning management systems. As part of the College’s new Apple 1:1 mobile technology initiative, the Instructional Designer will assist in the development and integration of mobile-enhanced pedagogies, course materials, and assessment techniques with the intention of creating a set of best practices in each area.

 The Instructional Designer must possess demonstrated experience managing multiple, concurrent technology projects; time and resource management skills; customer service skills; familiarity with both PC and Mac environments, including mobile technology; experience using software for teaching and learning; familiarity with learning management systems; and outstanding written, oral, and presentation skills using state-of-the-art technology.

Required experience includes: facilitating instructional or programmatic design; integrating multimedia into course design; 3+ years of teaching or training experience. A Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology/design, information technology, curriculum design, or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
