African Art History: Lecturer of African Art History School of Art + Design. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Art History Program in the School of Art + Design at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign invites applications for one full-time, nine-month, Lecturer position. This appointment requires service for one nine-month academic year. The service dates are August 16, 2017 thru May 15, 2018. A Ph.D. in Art History by the start of the appointment is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of successful teaching experience. We seek scholars of historical and/or modern and contemporary African visual cultures who are able to teach introductory and advanced courses in African visual cultures across a range of periods and media, as well as other art history courses that support our curriculum. Those whose research and teaching demonstrate interdisciplinary, comparative transcultural approaches are especially welcome. Teaching responsibilities include a 3/3 teaching load: three courses each in fall and spring semesters. This includes introductory and advanced undergraduate art history courses, as well as a graduate seminar, in areas that support and complement existing faculty courses.
