Princeton Day School seeks a Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward capital and planned gifts. The Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer reports to the Director of Individual Giving & Campaign Manager.

 Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer responsibilities include:

  • Cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospective major donors -through regular personal contact, written appeals, follow-up, outreach events, face to face meetings, and special events.
  • Being regularly "on the road" visiting past and prospective donors and volunteers.
  • Personally manage relationships with a portfolio of assigned prospective donors, including cultivating, soliciting and stewarding their relationship with the School.
  • Attend and assist with managing donor cultivation and recognition events and activities.
  • Ensure accurate processing and tracking of major gifts and donor acknowledgements.
  • Promote the School’s Planned Giving program to increase membership in the May Margaret Fine Society of planned giving donors.
  • Coordinate Annual Fund solicitation of capital and endowment prospects with the Director of Annual Fund.

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of moving potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure.
  • Successful experience (5 years or more) in developing and managing individual strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects and planned giving prospects.
  • Interest in independent school education and a dedication to promoting the School’s fund raising priorities by developing relationships with faculty, senior academic and administrative leaders, trustees, volunteers, and the advancement office team.
  • Must have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, reflect an optimistic and positive attitude and a have demonstrated record of completing assignments.
  • Willingness and availability to travel extensively.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.


  • Cooperate and work together with all managers, supervisors and co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage diverse tasks, multitasking in a fast-paced sometimes stressful environment.
  • Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement
