Executive Director of University Communications and Marketing

Applications are invited from qualified individuals interested in providing strategic vision and leadership to the university’s integrated marketing and communication functions. Reporting to the Chancellor, the Executive Director of University Communications and Marketing (formerly University Relations and Communications) is the primary communication adviser to the Chancellor. The executive director manages a budget of approximately $1.5M, supervises a staff of 12 and serves on the Chancellor’s senior leadership team.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years comparable career experience in public relations, marketing, communication, media relations or related areas
  • Supervisory experience in increasingly responsible positions in public relations, marketing, communication, media relations or related areas
  • Evidence of each of the following:
    • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and management competencies
    • Exceptional communication skills, including written, oral and listening
    • Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating communication and/or integrated marketing plans and strategies
    • Demonstrated success in creating and managing a work climate of collaboration, consensus and team-building
    • Experience in crisis communication and issue management

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience marketing higher education
  • Comprehensive understanding of communication technology
  • Experience managing a budget
  • Strong commitment to advancing a culture that supports respect, inclusion, diversity and community
  • Ability to create or facilitate the creation of solutions in complex systems and processes
