Vice President, Student Affairs

Bergen Community College, ranked no. 1 in New Jersey for associate degree graduates three years in a row and serving a diverse student body on its suburban campus, has a leadership opportunity for a Vice President, Student Affairs.  The Vice President, Student Affairs provides administrative leadership for all student services programs and initiatives including but not limited to recruitment; admissions; registration; student life; orientation and graduation.  In collaboration with the Executive Team, establishes and manages the goals, outcomes, and assessment of outcomes for student services’ areas; develops, implements and evaluates policies, procedures, programs, processes and systems for Student Affairs; develops and administers the budget, including forecasting, planning and monitoring of expenditures; assures that each area adheres to budgetary guidelines; articulates and advocates students’ needs and concerns to the College community; acts as liaison to the academic divisions regarding student issues; administers all matters related to student behavior and discipline; uses information technology to deliver, monitor, and evaluate programs and services for students; recommends appointment, reappointment and promotion for faculty, administrators and staff; serves as a member of the President’s Executive Council, the Management Team and other administrative committees as assigned; in collaboration with the Vice President, Academic Affairs, establishes, monitors, and assesses enrollment management goals; initiates cooperative relationships with appropriate school and community constituencies; participates in professional organizations related to Student Services in higher education; manages compliance as Title IX Coordinator; performs other duties as assigned.  This position reports to the President.

Required:   Doctorate degree required. Ten or more years’ experience in higher education including experience in a community college; five years’ experience in administrative positions demonstrating increasing supervisory responsibility; experience in collective bargaining environment preferred; Must have demonstrated commitment to students and their development, both individually and collectively; excellent organizational and administrative skills; strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple departments and possess a team approach to problem solving; knowledge of enrollment management strategies; understanding of the uses of information technology to deliver, monitor and evaluate programs and services for students; knowledge of disciplinary and judicial processes; ability to collaborate with other divisions in the College; strong knowledge of student affairs; and a commitment to diversity and multiculturism.
