Assistant/Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs

Kean University also operates a unique, additional location in Wenzhou-China, where development of a full-scale campus is currently underway.
Kean is seeking an exceptional and committed individual to fill the position of Assistant or Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA). The AVPAA reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of all academic departments and academic programs at the University, as well as management and day-to-day oversight of selected units within the Division of Academic Affairs. The AVPAA is also responsible for overseeing and enhancing University systems and procedures for faculty recruitment, orientation and continuing professional development; curriculum support and new program development; and faculty assessment, post- tenure review and instructional delivery. The AVPAA works closely with other administrators on budgetary operations, creating division-wide policies and procedures and strategic planning.
Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college is required for appointment at either level. Six years of professional experience in higher education or a similar organization, with a minimum of three years in administration is required for an appointment at the Associate level. Four years of professional experience in higher education or a similar organization, with a minimum of two years in administration is required for an appointment at the Assistant level. A Doctorate degree is preferred and can be substituted for one year of the required experience at either level. Candidate must have excellent writing and analytical skills and a record of academic and administrative accomplishment commensurate with appointment to a high level administrative position in a large and growing university.
