Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and Administration at the
University of Evansville. The Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and Administration (VPFAA)
serves as the chief financial officer (CFO) and is accountable to
the President for all business and fiscal matters of the
University. The VPFAA is a member of the President’s
Council and Cabinet and is responsible for the strategic direction and administrative management of financial planning and modeling, business operations, policy development, the University budget and budget processes, accounts payable and receivable, debt management, institutional investments, University-wide contract administration, risk management and insurance, bookstore, dining services, and capital construction and renovation projects. With a division of 70 employees, the VPFAA oversees the Offices of Fiscal Affairs, Administrative Services, Technology Services, Human Resources, Facilities Maintenance and Planning, and the University Bookstore. Under the umbrella of Fiscal Affairs, the VPFAA is also the key contact for University legal counsel and contracted institutional dining and facility services.
The scope of services performed by the VPFAA impacts, supports, and reaches across every department on campus.
In addition, the CFO engages with the Faculty Senate and its subcommittees of Fiscal Affairs and Accounting and
Budget by participating in meetings and presenting financial data. The VPFAA also supports the Board of Trustees
by staffing and providing information to the Executive, Finance, Audit, Investment, and Compensation Committees.
Qualifications: The VPFAA must provide visionary leadership to the University and ensure fiscal decisions and operational planning align with the mission, identity, strategic plan, and core goals of the University. The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- A core commitment to the private, independent liberal arts and sciences education;
- Substantial experience in a position of financial leadership;
- Record of accomplishment in developing effective financial strategies that uphold and promote the fiscal strength and integrity of the organization;
- Demonstrated understanding of fiscal principles and standards, preferably in an academic environment;
- Extraordinary communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a high level of professional integrity;
- A deep sense of civic engagement, global perspective, and social responsibility;
- A strong record of working on a collegial basis through consultative processes with other groups and offices within an organization (e.g., faculty and administrators in a setting of shared governance)
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Accounting or a related field is required;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or advanced degree (e.g., a Master’s degree in Business Administration) is required (preferably both).
