Chartered on 10th November 2016, the University of The Bahamas (UB), the national university of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is a vital catalyst for national development. UB evolved out of The College of The Bahamas (COB) which was established in 1974. Over the years of its evolution, academic offerings of COB expanded through the introduction of baccalaureate degree programmes offered across a broad range of approximately 60 majors. Master’s degree programmes including an MBA, an MSc in Reading with Inclusive Education and graduate degree programmes in collaboration with various US universities. UB has four campuses, two in New Providence at Oakes Field and Grosvenor Close, one in Grand Bahama, and its research station, the Gerace Research Centre, in San Salvador. Additional sites are planned for establishment throughout the archipelago in the future. UB is seeking faculty for academic year 2017-18 in multiple disciplines including Accounting, Architecture, Agriculture, Biology, Choral Conducting/Piano, Electrical Engineering Technology, English Language, French, Haitian Creole, History, Law, Law and Criminal Justice, Management and Marketing, Mathematics, Music, Psychology, Rhetoric and Composition, Rhetoric and Composition and Caribbean Studies Sociology, Mathematics Education, Special Education and Spanish. Administrative positions include, Dean of Liberal & Fine Arts; Dean of Business, Hospitality & Tourism Studies; Dean Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning; Associate Vice President, Northern Bahamas Campus; Dean of Faculty Northern Bahamas Campus; Grants Coordinator; and Grant Writer.
Requirements: Applicants for faculty positions must have a terminal degree in the respective discipline from an accredited university; teaching experience at the higher education level; and research experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate capacity for publication and maintain an active programme of scholarship; commitment to excellence in teaching; demonstrated knowledge of educational technologies and student learning assessment practices; commitment to professional service including community, institutional and departmental service. Responsibilities: Teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Conduct research and publish in his/her area of specialty. Develop proposals for fellowships, grants and external funds for the advancement of individual and departmental research. Participate and contribute actively in department and university activities and projects, and university life.
