Upper Iowa University (UIU), located in Fayette, Iowa, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Provost. The Provost reports to President William Duffy and is a part of the President’s Council and works closely with the Board of Trustees. The new Provost is to assume office on or before July 1, 2017.

Founded in 1857, Upper Iowa University ( is a comprehensive university with a liberal arts tradition and a mission of providing access to reasonably-priced, quality education. The University currently enrolls more than 5,200 students, including nearly 700 graduate students, nationally and internationally.

UIU’s main residential campus is in Fayette, Iowa; the University has also established 24 off-campus national centers in Iowa, Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, and two international centers in Hong Kong and Malaysia. The centers offer a convenient and unique approach for non-traditional-age students – nearly 70 percent of UIU’s student population – to earn a four-year degree while continuing to work full time or serve our country. Furthermore, the University’s rich history, coupled with a student-centered mission, has created a springboard for UIU to become a recognized innovator in offering accredited, quality undergraduate and graduate programs through flexible, multiple delivery systems, including online and self-paced study.

The Provost is responsible for the academic curriculum of the institution, providing leadership to the faculty and managing processes through which teaching is conducted and administered. The successful candidate will work directly with the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Faculty Senate Chair, and Faculty Committees, and will supervise School Deans, the Associate Provost, and other direct reports to ensure academic integrity, consistency, assessments, compliance, student success, sustainable growth, strategic planning, accreditation, and all other related functions to ensure the successful mission accomplishment of the University.
