Job Announcement

The faculty of the Department of Anthropology at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the Biological Anthropology department.

Teach general undergraduate courses in more than one of the major subfields (ethnology, archaeology, biological anthropology, anthropological linguistics). Assist with advising of majors and serve on appropriate departmental, college and university committees.

Department of Anthropology
The CSUDH Department of Anthropology offers a major and a minor in the discipline with course work in the four anthropological sub-disciplines: ethnology, archaeology, physical anthropology and anthropological linguistics. In addition, courses focus on contemporary disciplinary research, area studies and societal applications of anthropological knowledge. Majors may choose the General Anthropology concentration or the Archaeology concentration. Concentrations in Applied and biological are currently being developed.

Minimum Qualifications
• ABD considered; completed PhD is preferred. Area of expertise may include any dimension of biological anthropology and complements existing departmental strengths in archaeology and sociocultural anthropology. We seek candidates who can demonstrate their commitment to undergraduate teaching and scholarly excellence. Scholarly research excellence as evidenced by publication record is necessary.
• Experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
• Preference will be given to candidates qualified to teach courses in human osteology, forensic anthropology, human variation and whose research expertise complements our program's emphasis in the interaction between humans and their environments. Additional preference will be given to candidates with ongoing or potential projects in Southern California that can foster undergraduate involvement and career opportunities.

CSU Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is a comprehensive public university located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. With approximately 300 full-time faculty, the University serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 15,000 students in an urban setting.
